No show or event is complete without dancers working hard every day and giving it their all at showtime.

Dance is a sector of the arts hit incredibly hard by the pandemic. Please consider giving today to support Dance/NYC, which works to advocate for and increase knowledge of dance in our culture.

ABOUT 2021 New Yorkers for Dance End-of-Year Campaign

Be a New Yorker for Dance and help Dance/NYC raise $40,000 to support a thriving and equitable dance ecosystem. Donate today!

Dance/NYC is a service organization that promotes the knowledge, appreciation, practice, and performance of dance in the metropolitan New York City area. We leverage our role as a hub, conduit, and collective voice for dance through our core services and initiatives and embed values of justice, equity, and inclusion into all aspects of the organization.

We believe the dance ecology must itself be just, equitable, and inclusive to meaningfully contribute to social progress and envisions a dance ecosystem wherein power, funding, opportunities, conduct, and impacts are fair for all artists, cultural workers, and audiences.

Interested in getting involved? Here is how you can help:

  • Donate any amount meaningful to you!
  • Raise money as a team or group with family, colleagues, or friends.
  • Boost the campaign by sharing it on social media.
  • Already donated? Check if your employer will double your donation!

About the campaign:
This year, Dance/NYC has rapidly scaled its programs and services to meet the needs of dance workers and small-budget dance organizations across the metropolitan New York area and invites you to join us in forging a path towards a just, joyful, and thriving future for dance and dance workers.

To act on this commitment and anchored in our core values of justice, equity, and inclusion, this year Dance/NYC has continued to deliver services to the field across our core program areas, including:

  • Distributing an additional $176,625 in relief support to individual dance workers and dance making organizations through the Coronavirus Dance Relief Fund: Reopening Support and Disability. Dance. Artistry Dance and Social Justice Fellowship initiatives on top of its ongoing grantmaking programs;
  • Developing the Reopening Dance in NYC Toolkit, in partnership with Gibney, providing industry-wide guidance for the post-pandemic reopening of dance;
  • Hosting 26 field-wide calls to connect an audience of 434 community members with resources, events, advocacy, and information about initiatives in the field;
  • Launching a 5-week digital town hall series that explored how artists and institutions are adapting, unlearning, and innovating new ways of being in creation as the landscape for dance as professional practice, living ritual, and technical production continues to evolve; and
  • Sharing over 100 resources on Dance.NYC focused on racial justice, Hurricane Ida relief, COVID-19 preparedness, sexual harassment, and land acknowledgement practices.

Every dollar Dance/NYC raises over the following weeks will allow us to pay living wages to our workers and model the conditions we champion for the field so dance can thrive here. We believe artists are necessary workers and have an essential role in reimagining our world, fueling our economy, rebuilding a dignified workforce, maintaining our humanity, and so much more.

As you consider how you might want to get involved, know that creating a more just, equitable, and thriving dance community takes all of us and how incredibly instrumental you are in shaping Dance/NYC’s future and impact. Together I know we can reach our goal. Thank you for your support!

With Gratitude,
The Dance/NYC Team
